Hi Style Savvy Friends,

The biggest shopping day of the year is here! Black Friday can be an amazing opportunity to snag great deals, but without a plan, it’s easy to overspend or end up with things you don’t need. This weeks newsletter, I’m sharing smart strategies to make the most of Black Friday and the top 5 categories of clothing worth investing in during the sales.

Let’s shop smarter, not harder!

🖤 How to Shop Black Friday Like a Pro

1. Take Inventory of your closet and make a shopping plan!

  • Do a Quick Closet Review:
Spend 15-20 minutes flipping through your wardrobe. Look for gaps in your staples—do you need a new pair of jeans? A versatile blazer? Everyday boots? Make a list of what’s missing and prioritize these items during sales.

  • Think About Your Lifestyle:
Consider what types of outfits you need most. Are you missing workwear essentials, casual weekend looks, or pieces for special events? Focus on items that match your daily routine and upcoming plans.

  • Reflect on What You’re Not Wearing:
If there are pieces in your closet you avoid wearing, ask yourself why. Is it because they don’t fit, don’t match your other clothes, or don’t suit your style? Write these piees down and don’t buy similiar in the sale. For example if you have a few floral print tops you don’t wear, don’t buy more floral print in the sales.

2. Focus on pieces you want to wear weekly!

  • Trends can be tempting—especially during sales when they’re heavily discounted—but they often have a short shelf life. Pieces that are too trendy might feel exciting now, but they can quickly look dated, leaving you with something you barely wear after one or two seasons.

  • Instead, invest in everyday staples that you’ll reach for again and again. Think classic coats, neutral sweaters, tailored pants, or versatile boots. These pieces form the foundation of your wardrobe and can be styled in countless ways.

  • When you wear something regularly, the cost per wear becomes incredibly low, making it feel like an even better deal. For example, a $150 pair of high-quality jeans you wear weekly is a smarter purchase than a $50 statement top you wear once.

By prioritizing timeless essentials, you’ll build a wardrobe that works harder for you—and make every dollar count!

3. Research Prices in Advance:

  • Just because it’s on sale doesn’t mean it’s the best deal. Know the original price to see if you’re getting a true discount. Also a good time to browse online and add to cart so they are ready to go when the sales go live if you are shopping online.

4. Set a Budget:

  • Decide how much you want to spend beforehand so you can shop guilt-free!

⚠️ What to Avoid - I always say if you have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear, you are shopping wrong!

To truly change your closet, starts with shopping smart, so don’t make any impulse decisions during the sales!

  • Overwhelming Trends: Stay away from bold trends that don’t align with your personal style.

  • Poor Quality Fabrics: Even on sale, items made from cheap materials are not worth it.

  • One-Off Purchases: If you can’t think of at least three ways to style it, skip it.

🌟 Top 5 Categories to Shop This Black Friday

  1. Outerwear

    • Look for classic wool coats, versatile shearlings, or trench coats in neutral tones. These are big-ticket items that are often deeply discounted. A leather trench is also great! I’d shop these at Zara, Mango, Evernew, and Dynamite.
